Scope of Project:

The Agency of Digital Services, on behalf of the Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets (VAAFM), is seeking a Systems Developer to perform application modernization on the Farm Phosphorus Reduction Planner (Farm PREP) web application. The Farm Phosphorus Reduction Planner (Farm PREP) is an innovative web application that streamlines data inputs and outputs to USDA-NRCS's complex Agricultural Policy/Environmental e Xtender (APEX) model to provide accurate results for phosphorus loading from agricultural fields.

Farm PREP runs using a hybrid N-tier configuration of virtual servers, at Amazon AWS, that includes a web server, middleware (API) server, a separate model API server, and a Post Gre SQL database server, as well as a Docker container system executed on AWS Fargate.

Responsibilities:

• Perform application modernization on the Farm PREP web application.

• Support and enhance Angular-based front-end components.

• Develop and maintain NodeJS REST APIs.

• Work with PostgreSQL/Post GIS databases and ArcGIS Enterprise Geodatabase functionality.

• Support AWS cloud infrastructure including ECS/ECR, Fargate, and S3.

• Develop and maintain Docker containerized services.

• Support Python scripts and model processing services.

• Work within Linux-based environments and enterprise GIS architecture.
