About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer to support the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance (DTF) Modernization Program. This initiative focuses on modernizing legacy tax systems that support billions of dollars in state revenue, including Collections & Accounts Receivable and Integrated Taxpayer Accounting systems.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Java/J2EE enterprise application development, IBM technologies, database development, and large-scale transactional systems.
Key Responsibilities :
Gather, analyze, and document business requirements.
Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise Java applications.
Develop applications using Java, J2EE, Spring Framework, JDBC, JSON, JavaScript, and XML.
Prepare detailed technical design documents and system specifications.
Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Develop unit test plans, perform unit testing, and debug application issues.
Coordinate code migration from development through user acceptance testing.
Optimize application and database performance.
Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance.
Troubleshoot production issues and resolve defects in a timely manner.
Collaborate with business users, project managers, and technical teams.
Participate in technical meetings and communicate project updates effectively.
Required Qualifications :
5+ years (60 months) of experience with:
Java/J2EE
EJB
JDBC
JSP
XML
5+ years of experience developing applications using IBM Rational Application Developer (RAD) deployed on IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS).
5+ years of experience with IBM DB2, XML schemas, XML querying, and automated XML generation.
5+ years of experience in application and database performance tuning.
3+ years of experience with IBM MQSeries.
5+ years of experience supporting enterprise tax or revenue systems.
Strong experience in system analysis, technical design, and developing multi-tier enterprise transactional applications.
Ability to work independently while mentoring junior team members.
